Cornerstone Class
Welcome to the Cornerstone Sunday School Class!
The Cornerstone class exists to provide fellowship, teaching, and Biblical guidance to its members. While there are exceptions, the class is largely made up of couples between the ages of 30 and 60. If you will be attending services here at Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, we invite you to visit our Sunday School class while you are here.
Why the name?
Everyone builds their lives around some set of values or interests in the hope that the life that they build will stand firm. Those values become the foundation that all of life rests upon. Jesus was speaking on this very subject when he taught that a house built on the sand will fall but one which has a rock for a foundation will stand against the fiercest of storms. Of course Jesus was not just telling this story to help us build strong houses. Rather, he was telling us that our lives need a strong foundation if they are to endure life’s worst storms. Jesus himself is that ‘rock’ solid foundation upon which all else can be supported.
We have named our class the Cornerstone class because we know that life’s only truly firm foundation is Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:20 tells us: “And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;”
Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Truly – it is marvelous in our eyes! Come ‘build’ with us.
